Village News 7th March 2019

• Planning has begun for the 27th Alrewas Open Gardens weekend, which will be held on 29th and 30th June. As always the Committee are looking for new gardens to include. If you might be interested in opening yours please contact Brian Goodwin on 01283 790916 or The event is always popular with villagers and many visitors from outside, and it raises vital funds to maintain our lovely village and church.

• The second village litter pick took place on Saturday. There was another good turnout. Specially printed high-vis jackets have been donated by the village based personalised clothing company Club & Corporate Wear and free tea and coffee for volunteers was provided by The Bank Coffeehouse at the end.

• There is a Fashion Show and Sale on Monday 18th March at the village hall at 7pm. Blue Sky Fashion Shows are coming along with ‘designer high street store and top range ladies garments sold at a fraction of the normal prices’. Sizes 8-22 available with the chance to try on before you buy. The bar opens at 6.30pm. Tickets are £5 including a glass of bucks fizz on arrival and are available from The Bank Coffeehouse or Susie on 01283 295101

This is a fundraiser for the next Alrewas Arts Festival and the date for that has now been set. It will be held 22nd to 29th August 2020, which this time will not include the Bank Holiday as the schools go back mid week.

• Alrewas & Fradley Charities most recent donation will help fund the Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers in the villages to buy essential resources to help the leaders deliver the new Guiding programme that is being introduced across all sections over the coming months.

• The basket swing at the play area on Walkfield should be back in use within a couple of weeks. The manufacturers have been slow in repairing this for us.
