• If you concerned about speeding vehicles in Alrewas and are interested in becoming a Community Speed Watch volunteer please go along to Alrewas Village Hall at 7pm this Monday 11th February where there will be a presentation and opportunity to learn more about introducing the scheme into Alrewas.

Volunteers undergo a 2½ hour training session carried out by the Police covering such things as Aims and Objectives and the Operation of a Radar Device. Once trained volunteers will record details of speeding vehicles at the side of the road and submit their findings to the Police. Warning letters will then be sent to drivers pointing out the dangers of speeding. If a repeat offender is identified then an escalation process is put in place and the driver will receive a home visit by an Officer at the very least.

The Parish Council meeting follows at 7.30pm.

• There will be a pop up florist outside The Bank Coffeehouse next week from Tuesday 12th February by village florist A Different Colour. This is a great opportunity to buy beautiful contemporary bunches and made to order bouquets in boxes right on your doorstep. There will also be a selection of lovely indoor plants.

• Following a spate of vandalism at the Millstream last year Alrewas Civic Society has installed new solar powered security lights which provide a visual deterrent to people sitting on the benches after dark. They are also fitted with a siren, which also acts as an audible deterrent. The burnt picnic bench has been removed and there are no plans to replace it at present.

• If you enjoy yoga or would like to start, there are two classes in the village. Sara-Mae’s class in the village hall is on Wednesdays 6.30 to 7.30pm, £30 for 6 weeks, and there’s a seniors’ class on Mondays 8-9pm in the Methodist Hall. Both welcome beginners, just turn up.
