Village News 20th December 2018

• At the Parish Council meeting a summary was given on the recent meeting with Crest Nicholson, the new developers for the site north of Dark Lane. They are currently putting together a traffic plan for the construction period which is due to start in Spring and take up to three years, with around 50 houses per year being built starting at the Micklehome Drive end. The working group are concerned that the developer is making no effort to work with Highways to create two way traffic off the A38 at Micklehome which means all construction traffic will have to go via Dark Lane, Exchange Road, Main Street and Fox Lane. The developers also plan to enforce no parking on Exchange Road between 8am and 4pm every day with the use of cones and traffic attendants. The Traffic Plan will be available for comment in January.

A report was received from PSCO Tracy Horton in respect of recent anti-social behaviour. She said that although she was aware of a considerable number of comments on social media very few people actively reported anything to the police so it was not possible to deal with it as effectively as they could have. Residents are again reminded to report any incidents on 101 and get a crime number.

Funding was agreed for a Community Speedwatch initiative in the village, which will cover a speed gun, training and safety of volunteers. The Parish Council will be seeking volunteers in the New Year.

Temporary access for construction traffic across Walkfield to access the site south of Baganlls Lock where six bungalows are being built was approved. It will run across in front of the cricket pavilion and be completed before the cricket season starts.

The Parish Council annual newsletter will be distributed to all households this week. It contains news on all the developments going on in the village and useful contacts for residents.
