• Alrewas Civic Society AGM will be held on Wednesday 23rd March at Alrewas Cricket Club at 7:30 p.m. The short AGM, which will including a brief summary of what has been done over the last year and plans for the future, will be followed by

a speaker from the National Memorial Arboretum, Keith Forster, talking on ‘The Significance of Trees at the NMA’. His knowledge of trees is extensive and there will be an opportunity to ask questions afterwards. All are welcome

• In honour of the Queens Platinum Jubilee All Saint’s Church are inviting you to join their ‘Jubilee Choir’ to perform at various events over the weekend of the 2nd to 5th June as part of the village celebrations. They will be singing a variety of music, some of which has been specially composed for the Jubilee. Everyone is welcome to join choir rehearsals on a Friday night at 7:30-9pm at All Saints Church, beginning on 1st April. Please email katyallan7@yahoo.co.uk to register your interest.

Information on all the plans for Jubilee weekend will be available very soon. There will be a programme of events produced so if you have some community activities planned and would like them included, please email Paula at chair@alrewas-artsfest.co.uk

• Liz Davies from HS2 will be attending the Parish Council meeting next Monday 14th, 7.30pm in the Village Hall, to answer any questions from members of the public as well as councillors about the impact on our local community from HS2. Concerns include road closures, especially the A38 at Streethay, access to public footpaths, impact on the environment, especially relating to loss of mature trees, and the increase in heavy construction traffic.

• If you are a workshop leader (or are interested in being one) or you would like to volunteer to help at this year’s Alrewas Arts Festival you would be warmly welcome to a ‘Gathering’ this Sunday 11am to 1pm in the Village Hall. Then from 2-4pm there is a craft session with Sally when everyone is welcome to go along and contribute to the community art being created for the Festival. Tea and cake will be provided.

• There are a host of activities happening on a regular basis at the British Legion Club. Bingo is every Thursday at 2pm and at 12.30 on Friday’s there is scrabble, cribbage and cards.  On Monday’s it’s the Drop In from 2pm and this week (14th) Sam Collins from 'Blood Bikes' will give a talk about the valuable work they do.             

Dementia Coffee mornings continue to be held on the first and third Tuesday of each month 10.30 am to 12.30pm. This is for anyone with Dementia or related illnesses and their carers, to relax and talk to others and to feel supported. Contact Maureen Johnson for more information on 01283 790381

Raffle and tombola prizes would be gratefully received at the Legion to help keep this group running

Finally, this Saturday ‘Swim with Sharks’ will be performing live from 8.30pm. All are welcome  

• After the success of the Autumn and Christmas Fayres, Alrewas Virtual Market are holding a Spring fayre just in time for Mother's Day and Easter. It will be on Sunday 20th March 11am until 3pm at Alrewas Village Hall with lots of great stalls from local crafters and businesses and delicious refreshments too

• Alrewas Live & Local AGM will be held in the snug at The Crown Inn at 8pm on Wednesday 16th March. All are welcome.
