Village News 15th July 2021

• Alrewas resident and keen walker Hector Christie has teamed up with Lichfield based Graeme Taylor, whose knowledge of local walks approaches the encyclopaedic, and produced a pocket sized book of 15 of the finest short to medium walks in the area,

They wanted to mark one of the few positive outcomes of 2020 and celebrate and encourage further the benefits and the sheer joy of walking. The walks incorporate the varying aspects of the great outdoors, ranging from wildlife, to the landscape’s historical and literary past, so a major goal of the book is to interpret various routes through their cultural connections and thus enable people to see things in a new way. To this they have added other touches such as the odd humorous slant and where to forage.

The areas covered are those around Alrewas, Fradley and Lichfield, including historic Wychnor, the rich heritage of Lichfield and the Industrial Waterways running throughout the local landscape.

They have worked closely with Peter Ralley and talked to local walking groups. The funding has been supported by Alrewas and Fradley Charities and this is a not for profit initiative so all sales will go back to producing more copies. They are available

to buy at the Bank Coffeehouse.
