Village News 20th February 2020

• This year’s Alrewas Open Gardens is 27th and 28th June, 1pm to 6pm each day, and the organising committee are once again looking for new gardens. If you interested in opening your garden and being part of this popular event please contact Brian Goodwin on 790916 who will be happy to chat to you about it.

It is not a competition and gardens can be small or large, colourful or merely green, work in progress or fully mature, do please join in to help create another successful weekend. All the money raised will be divided between the Alrewas Church and Alrewas Civic Society to maintain our beautiful village and church.

• There is a field becoming available in the village that could potentially be used for ponies and eventually a pony club. If anyone has ponies or knowledge of running a pony club please contact Nick on 07793 322049.

• At the Parish Council Meeting Lichfield District Councillor Mike Wilcox reported that he was communication with LDC in regard to Crest Nicholson’s infringements against the Traffic Plan. This includes poor directional signage, lack of street cleaning and construction lorries going the wrong way through the village. LDC are able to put a stop order on the development if these are not adhered to. Talks are also continuing with the Flood Authority to address concerns about the changes to the Flood Plan which could potentially risk more flooding in the village.

County Councillor Janet Eagland reported that the mini roundabout by the NMA had been damaged in an accident and the Astroturf had been stolen from the surface.  She will also take up the issue of flooding on Main Street.

• Lots are building up for the Fun Auction on Saturday 21st March. Many local businesses have donated great prizes adding to numerous other donations from individuals. There will be some fantastic bargains to be had. Viewing will be from 7pm with the auction starting at 7.30. The bar will be open. All proceeds will go towards funding the week long 2020 Alrewas Arts Festival taking place from Saturday August 22nd to 29th which is free to all residents.
