• Little Chicks Childcare in Alrewas had an Ofsted inspection last week and were awarded an Outstanding in all five areas. The Inspector said ‘Children are at the heart of everything the childminder and her assistants do. They thoroughly enjoy their time at the exceptionally well-resourced environment, which has a home-from-home feeling. Children take part in local village events and submit artwork they have all contributed towards making. A recent first prize award 'masterpiece' is now displayed in a local café for all residents to admire’.  

• A wonderful array of Christmas events in Alrewas starts this Saturday 7th with a Christmas Acoustic Night with ‘The Magpies’ at the Bank Coffeehouse. There is a Winter Wonderland Christmas Shopping event at The Tier Hairdressing on Thursday 12th 7-9pm, the Needwood Singers present ‘Carols by Candlelight’ in the Methodist Church on Sunday 15th, ‘The Imposters’ play live at The Crown on Saturday 21st, there is a childrens’ Christmas Party at the British Legion on the 22nd at 11am, the Cricket Club Quiz is on Sunday 29th then from 23rd to 25th January Alrewas Dramatics perform ‘Camelot The Panto’ in the Village Hall. For more information or tickets to any these events, other than the Legion’s, pop into the Bank Coffeehouse.

• All households will receive a copy of the Parish Council annual newsletter through their door in the next two weeks. You are urged not to recycle it as it contains a lot of information about what is going on in the village and who to contact if you have any issues on anything from overflowing gutters to criminal incidents.

• The Lichfield District Council Local Plan review is designed to give residents in the District an opportunity to comment on District Council Plans for the development of the area to 2036. It covers a range of strategic priorities including sustainability, transport, housing, employment, health and safer communities. No further housing numbers had been allocated to Alrewas in the Plan which was welcomed by the Parish Council. A link to the Plan is on the Parish Council website and is available for anyone in the District to comment on before 24th January before the final version is considered for approval by Lichfield District Council in the Summer of 2020.

• The next Whist Drives in the Methodist Hall are on 5th and 19th December at 2pm. It’s a friendly club, run fortnightly, and newcomers are always welcome.

The travelling library comes to Alrewas once a fortnight. It will be in Post Office Road between 9.30 and 12.30 6, 20 December
